We’re halfway through the 2017 and no one in Raider Nation is happy with how things have unfolded. The Raiders offense is the problem after most fans focused the entire offseason worrying about the defense. The playoffs now a long shot, what do the Raiders need to do the rest of the way to salvage the season?
No one thought it would be like this.
Going into the 2017 NFL season, the one thing Raider Nation knew for certain: the Oakland offense was going to be explosive and carry the team on the arm and smarts of franchise quarterback Derek Carr.
After eight games of the 2017 tilt, nothing could be further from the truth. The Raiders offense has only looked like itself in about two and three-quarters of its games and cannot find its “mojo.” New offensive coordinator Todd Downing is taking a lot of the heat (some deserved), but there’s plenty of folks on the Raiders squad that share responsibility for the offensive dysfunction. There is no one answer.
The guys also discuss how the Raiders defense has kept the team in most games and why Carr still doesn’t look comfortable in the offense. Is the team giving him enough sets and options to do what he does best? They discuss.
The team also previews the Miami Dolphins game on Sunday night. The Raiders again will be in the national spotlight against a Dolphins team that is downright awful on offense.
