Round 1, Pick #19
Need pick: Kenneth Murray, LB Oklahoma With great instincts and an all-out motor Murray would fit right in the middle of a Raiders LB core that is desperate for talent. This is a pick you will see in tons of mock drafts because sometimes the picks make just too much sense. Patrick Queen of LSU could also be an option here is Murray is off the board.
The need at LB is real and Murray and the Raiders make perfect sense
Luxury Pick: Grant Delpit, S LSU Since the Raiders feel the need to continue to play their best safety at the corner and the uncertain health of Abram’s shoulder a pick at Safety may be in the cards. If you put on Delpit’s sophomore tape he is a Top 5 pick and lock first safety off the board. Every team will have to decide how much of his decline was injury-related and how much was Delpit trying to protect himself for the draft. If you get sophomore year Delpit he would be a steal at 19.
Henderson would be a wild card for the Raiders in the first round but his addition to the Las Vegas defense would be felt immediately.
Wild Card: CJ Henderson, CB Florida Henderson may be the best press-man corner in this draft. He fits every profile that you want in a corner with his size-speed and change of direction skills at the top of the class. The one thing that may keep Gruden from making this pick is Henderson is severely allergic to tackling. His effort in run support isn’t any better, but as Deion Sanders once said: ‘You don’t pay me to tackle.” Henderson’s testing at the combine will make him a very decisive player that will be a first-rounder on a lot of boards.
Yes, this Raiders mock draft may include some wild cards no one would expect. Yet with Gruden and Mayock at the helm, anything could happen.
